Trip to Sloss Furnaces

A number of the Chester River Casting (CRC) artists recently completed a trip to visit the Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama. Sloss is an old commercial iron foundry that now offers educational metal arts programs and hosts resident and visiting artists. Look for pictures of the trip to be added to our gallery pages shortly.

Steve's Festival of Trays

In the coming months, CRC will host a casting of styrofoam food trays carved by various artists throughout the nation. "Steve's Festival of Trays" will feature trays engraved by sculptors, printmakers, and painters alike and cast in aluminum using the lost foam process. More details will be posted here when they become available, probably in summer 2007.

Last Fall the Liminal Museum of Art in Chestertown, Maryland, hosted a great exhibition of work cast at CRC. Check out the gallery for images. There are currently no CRC related exhibitions scheduled. We'll let you know as soon as we plan something.
